What is self Amalgamating Tape?
Quite simply and as the name suggests, self-amalgamating tape is a tape that is adhesive to itself but not directly adhesive to other substrates, it is a non-tacky silicone-rubber tape which when stretched and wrapped around cables, electrical joints, hoses and pipes combines or unites itself into a strong, seamless, rubbery, waterproof, and electrically insulating layer. This ensures a strong bond, but with easy removal & minimal material left behind.
This has made self amalgamating tape the ultimate repair tape, offering a strong water tight seal which can be replied extremely efficiently. But then easily removed for a permanent repair. This type of tape is also described, as "self-fusing", or "self-vulcanizing". It is also known as "F4", "rescue", "Tape 69" "magic tape", and "fix-it tape" This is used extensively in aviation and aerospace wiring applications as a splice or wrapping tape due to its non-flammability. It can be used for emergency repair of leaking low-pressure hoses and pipes.
Uses of Self Amalgamating Tape
Leaking Pipes
Leaking Joints
Damaged Cable Emergency Repair
Strengthening of Cable
Waterproofing of Cable
Self Amalgamating tape is used extensively in aviation and aerospace wiring applications due to its zero halogen characteristics.
