Cutting PIR boards is a known challenge across the globe, often being time-consuming and quite labour-intensive as it is often performed with a hand saw or a Stanley knife. With the all new Cold Cutting Insulation Wire we hope to see this become a thing of the past. Offering precise cuts and being the most time-efficient method we are proud to introduce our Insulation Wire Cutter.
Used for Rock wool, Foamed Polyurethane plates, Foamed glass board, Foamed EPS, even Foamed Rubber
Vertical wire allows cutting of 650 mm long and 270 mm thick
The Cold Cut Insulation Cutter is a Brushless motor machine, allowing for a much longer run duration with more freedom due to its battery operation, allowing you to quickly move from site to site with it, reducing labour time spent sawing away at some of the more challenging foam boards.
The Vertical wire allows cutting at a maximum of 650cm long and 275mm thickness at up to 45° on the X and Y axis. Combined with the break arm release this allows perfect cuts swiftly and consistently.
Why do I need a cold-cutting machine for my Kingspan or Celotex?
Some claim that a hot wire tool can be used to cut PIR boards, but this is incorrect. Products made from PIR and PUR materials are not suitable for hot wire cutting, as attempting to do so would release unpleasant fumes.
Moreover, the hot wire won't cut through the foil present on both sides of the board.
The foil is resistant to thermal cutting. Even if you manage to cut a PIR board using a hot wire cutter, it won't last long and will likely only serve for a few cuts. Therefore, the hot knife tool is only used for cutting regular Styrofoam, which is not covered in aluminium foil. If you require one of these for a non-aluminium coated Styrofoam please check our listings here.
